The local community news website, co-founded by PWAC Quebec member and National VP Craig Silverman, launched in Toronto last spring. OpenFile has freelance journalists covering the news in several cities across Canada and is expanding to Montreal.
Journalism Strategies is the short name for a conference that will take place April 19th through 21st, 2012 at Concordia and McGill Universities in Montreal.

New York publishing guru Mike Shatzkin on The Future of Books
Mike Shatzkin, renowned founder and CEO of the New York-based company Idea Logical, will speak about the future of books on April 5, 4pm, at the Atwater Library Auditorium, 1200 Atwater Avenue, Westmount. Admission is free. The presentation will appeal to a general audience and include the following topics: the impact of ebooks on publishers, authors, booksellers and readers; ebook sales and whether they will continue to grow; which devices will dominate; and the publishing players of the future.
