You may have heard about the upcoming IABC Ovation Awards, and like me, find yourself wondering what they are all about.
Yep – that’s the level of networking that goes on at Mediaville mixers – and the next mixer is next week, so get your RSVP in NOW!
Sharon took some time out of her busy schedule to share some info about the Ovation Awards.
The Ovation Awards are merit-based and not a competition, she explained, which means they recognize talent across a wide range of communications professions. To be considered for an award, an individual must submit a project that has measurable results. These entries are then judged according to specific criteria by a panel of industry experts and IABC members.
Winning one of these awards brings a high level of kudos, as the awards are well recognized across the scope of communications industries. Backed up with advertising via IABC’s global communications network, winners are looking at some serious international visibility.
And that’s a massive boon for any local talent hunting for work. And we’re all hunting for work, right?
Sharon described examples of possible entries; a social media campaign that was successful in driving sales, or an individual publication, a piece of writing (news article, blog), an influential video or even a complete crisis communications or reputation management campaign carried out in an organizational context.
For friends of Mediaville, she said that Division 2: Communication Creative would likely be the category that fits, but make sure you check them out every category to be sure you apply to the one that best suits your entry.
Remember, this is a great way for all local freelancers to gain visibility with the corporate community. For more information, see the website, and read the official communication below:
