New Brunswick Workshops: closer than you think!

Event

The Atlantic Region of PWAC is hosting their first regional workshop – Communicating for Cash – on July 9th to 11th at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick.

It looks set to be a fantastic workshop: great speakers on highly relevant topics… but only if you can get to New Brunswick, right?

Not at all.

Roberto Blizzard, Chair at the Quebec/Atlantic chapter of the Editors Association of Canada (who are playing a sponsorship role in the workshop), has informed us that the professional development sessions in the two-day workshop will be available on the Internet via live streaming video.

PWAC Atlantic will create an online archive that will provide access to the workshop videos early the following week for those who can’t make it to Sackville.

They’ve even set up a test streaming page so you can be sure the live video stream will work with your computer system and Internet connection.

The workshops:

  • Everybody’s talking about using social media to market their business, but is it right for you? Find out from writer and trainer Paul Lima reveals what he calls the five marketing arrows – arrows any business can access to effectively market their business, no matter what their marketing budget, including social media.
  • PWAC Ottawa member Marion Soubliere wrote the book on cracking the $20 billion federal government market – Getting Work with the Federal Government: A guide to figuring out the procurement puzzle – and she’ll take you on a tour of the federal government procurement system.
  • Author Johanna Bertin will discuss research and ethical dilemmas faced in writing biographies based on her recent experience writing Don Messer, the Man behind the Music.
  • Goose Lane Editions Managing Editor Akou Connell gives the inside scoop on preparing and submitting a proposal to a publisher, including the vitally important components of a successful submission – the cover letter, CV, pitch and sample.

Full details of the workshop are available on the Atlantic Region PWAC site. Or download a PDF of the schedule.

Pricing for the live online sessions is $35 for PWAC, CFU and EAC members, and $50 for non-members. Both sessions will be available on demand after the event.

Registration will remain open until 5 p.m. Atlantic (4 p.m. EST) on Friday, July 9, 2010.
