Event

Thursday, June 17, 7-8:30 p.m. @ Station C

Let’s talk business

Are you an independent media professional open to forging new partnerships with other, like-minded freelancers — Interested in harnessing the power of your network to expand your business’s reach — Listen up freelancers: Mediaville Montreal is gathering together this city’s multi-talented media community for a night of networking, noshing, brainstorming and imbibing.

We’re inviting a limited number of professionals from various disciplines — writers, editors, translators, publishers, Web or graphic designers, videographers, photographers, journalists or documentary filmmakers, etc. — whether in corporate or creative, traditional or digital media, to explore collaborative possibilities at Station C, Montreal’s premier co-working space in the Mile End.

Co-working: What’s that?

Most freelancers ply their trade independently, often from a home office. Likewise, many freelancers do not belong to a professional association, missing out on potential synergies and greater resources available to a larger group. Co-working provides a natural venue for creative workers to share information, ideas and ultimately, work, allowing individuals to collaborate on larger projects than one freelancer could take on alone.

The event

The event will start off with one of Station C’s administrators explaining how the outfit operates, and providing an overview of co-working’s benefits and best practices. This will be followed by a brief introduction to Mediaville Montreal by its founder, Giancarlo La Giorgia, and even briefer personal introductions by all of the event’s attendees, so as to facilitate the main event: networking! Anyone interested in keeping the conversation going past the allotted time can mosey on down to The Sparrow bar for an after-glow party.
